MY ROLE

Implementing the Design System

My role as visual design was to up keep and maintain the website. Working closely with the core team to create new features within the allocated sprint time. Working closely with the Head of Design, I was able to implement the design system to scale the site to any new pages that were needing to be designed. I was able to collaborate and help with the process of designing out the Double Click visual design language.

Homepage and Articles

Feature articles are the main modules on the landing page. Through user testing two designs were initially design and A/B tested, this was the result of that feedback.

This marketing site allows users to read articles relating to programmatic advertising, see what’s new in the industry and provide downloadable whitepaper resources.

APPROACH

Dedicated Team Working in Sprints

As part of the dedicated team we worked in two week sprints. In my design process I stuck to an ideology with basic guidelines – Explore, Ideate, Create, Validate (Repeat). This philosophy was seen in both the larger idea of the project, from start to finish, but also seen in my day to day visual and UX design iterations.

SOLUTION

Modular

“Programmatic” ad buying typically refers to the use of software to purchase digital advertising, as opposed to the traditional process that involves RFPs and human negotiations. Basically using machines to buy ads. Because of this the team created a brand that needed to represent something was more humanizing, this can be seen through the use of color and photography. A design system was created to help facilitate the brand living within the digital space. Design patterns were created throughout the site. The product is modular and can be easily reconstructed if any new articles were to added to main site. The following are some examples of these patterns such as Case Studies, Category Cards (Articles) and Sign-up.

SOLUTION

Create a Visual Engaging Design System

For any design project, determining the proper visual language is crucial. By looking at the existing brand guidelines, I was able to push the boundaries with the Product owner and make conscious changes that better advance user experience. Onboarding the user to the app became friendly and easily understood by the user, through the guided screens. The navigation was very useful for the user with a dashboard type homepage overview. From the initial user test filing a claim and verifying transaction flows were extremely complicated, so simplifying steps or adding tooltips to aid the user was implemented. The app was produced in both iOS and Android, so understanding both HIG and Material design was something that was of utmost importance.
